Watford Palace needs your vote!

28 Sep 2011

Watford Palace Theatre has been given the oppourtunity to receive a £6,000 grant through Natwest CommunityForce, an initiative which empowers communities to vote for projects close to their heart.

The Theatre would use the money to develop its Palace Youth Theatre (PYT). Through teaching performing arts, PYT offers young people aged 7 - 18 the chance to develop key life skills (including confidence building, teamwork, literacy and community cohesion), all which help PYT participants achieve their full potential in life.

If successful in receiving the Natwest CommunityForce grant, the Palace would develop its PYT offering by:

  • Offering a Travel/Participation Bursary Fund to help make PYT more accessible and inclusive for those young people whose barriers to attending are financial and geographical.

  • Creating a Development Fund to set up satellite PYT groups, enabling more young people to benefit.

  • Encouraging marginalised young people, particularly those at risk of youth offending and anti social behaviour, to participate in youth theatre within their community.
