Watford’s first ever outdoor ice rink – with real ice!

Glide your way into the 2014 festive season and through to the New Year in style . . .

Bring your family and friends, and join us for a skate by The Pond this Winter as seasonal ice skating comes to Watford for the very first time. Wrap up warm, collect your skates and celebrate in style on our outdoor rink with real ice.

Create your own memorable winter experience with The Big Skate in Watford! Great fun for all ages.

Sessions last 45 minutes. The ticket price includes the hire cost of ice skates.

Planning Your Visit:

  • Booking a session in advance is highly recommended
  • Tickets are available online up to midnight the day before your visit
  • If buying a walk-up ticket on the day of your visit, you may need to wait a short time before entrance is possible
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your booked session to give time to collect your ice skates
  • Adults are those who are 16 or over
  • Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied on the ice by an adult
  • There is no minimum age for skating
  • There are 10 skating aids available for people who need help on the ice, and 20 double bladed ‘bob skates’ for infants and young children. These can be booked in advance of your session - please call the Watford Palace Theatre Box Office on 01923 225671
  • Users of self-propelled or attendant propelled wheelchairs are welcome with an accompanying assistant or carer. Electric wheelchairs unfortunately cannot be accomodated on the ice
  • There is no storage facility at the rink to accommodate your personal belongings. Handbags and small rucksacks can be carried on the ice at your own risk
  • If you have your own skates, you can use these on the ice at your own risk. There will not, however, be a reduction in ticket price 
  • The rink is closed on Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day) and Thursday 1 January 2015 (New Years Day)

  • 11am to 9pm daily
  • Sessions last 45 minutes
  • Last admission is at 8pm

Peak Times:

  • 5pm to 8pm on weekdays
  • Weekends
  • All day on Monday 22, Tuesday 23, Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 December

Off Peak Times:

  • 11am to 4pm on weekdays

Ticket Prices:

  • Adults (16 and over) £10 peak, £7 off-peak
  • Child (under 16) £7 peak, £5 off-peak
  • Family Ticket for 4 (must include 1 adult) £30 peak and £20 off-peak
  • Group of 10 or more adults £8 per person, peak; £6 per person, off-peak 
  • Hire cost of skates is included in the ticket price
