A History of the Presence of Black People in Britain

Watford African Caribbean Association in partnership with Watford Palace Theatre
How does it feel to leave friends and family behind to start life afresh in a new country?
Weeks aboard a ship, landing on a strange shore and stepping into a world where all the houses look like factories, with smoke curling from their chimneys.
Windrush recounts the personal stories of African and Caribbean men and women who migrated to Watford after World War Two, a journey which began in 1948 with the voyage of SS Windrush.
A celebration and exploration of Black culture, as part of Black History Month celebrations.
