The theatre’s Education Department (Active) works in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council’s Children Schools and Families to deliver a diverse educational programme to schools and colleges throughout the county. As well as supporting national curriculum requirements, Active engages young people in the complete theatrical production process by running 2 Youth Theatre groups: Watford Palace Young People’s Theatre and The Hertfordshire County Youth theatre, as well as numerous workshops and holiday projects for children of all abilities. These initiatives can provide extensive opportunities for young people to be involved in all aspects of theatre making, promote diversity, access and inclusion and contribute to the social and cultural development of the young participants.
